New venture at Barrow's market

THE Mayor of Barrow Coun Dave Roberts and the Mayoress Pauline Coats will formally open A Weigh 2 Save, a new outlet on stall 75 in Barrow Indoor Market at 11am on Friday, May 23.

A Weigh 2 Save is run by Paula Wilson and offers a good range of dried food products from flour, cake mix dried fruit and peas, steeping tablets, spices etc.

Paula is also renting out various novelty cake molds from cars to trains so customers do not have to go to the expense of buying a mold which they may only use once.

Mrs Wilson said: "I have spoken with lots of people who all agreed that the closure of the Weigh and pay shop in Dalton Road some time ago was a real loss. They like to be able to buy goods in the quantity they want."

Ann Taylforth, Barrow Town Centre and Festivals Manager, commented: "I am sure this stall will be very popular.

"Packaging is very expensive and in the current climate, many people do not wish to pay for unwanted, unnecessary and expensive packaging.

Many people are trying their best to reduce waste and recycle wherever possible and a Weigh 2 Save outlet is an excellent help.

The Market offers shoppers an excellent choice and I would urge those who may have not visited the market for a while to come along and support local small businesses."
