A MOBILE learning centre will be stopping off in Barrow town centre today (Wednesday), promoting the courses available locally those aged over 19 years old.
As part of national Adult Learners Week (May 17-23), Age Concern Training has been travelling around the Furness area, stopping at schools to drop off leaflets for parents and grandparents, and visiting companies such as BAE to explain more about what courses are available, and offering up 'taster' sessions.
The courses can be done at home, at work, on the bus, or in the training centre at Furness Business Park.
Subjects include literacy, numeracy and IT skills. The centre offers training up to Level 2. and a majority of the courses are free.
Nicola Cassley is the training centre manager. She said: "In the past, we have found that our English and Maths courses are a really great way to get parents to understand the curriculum in schools and to help their children with their work.
"We also have a number of school learning support assistants who are training to get qualifications to help children.
"But there are courses for everyone and everyone for whatever reason they want to study, and a majority of them are free."
The computer Explorer Bus will be on Preston Street in Barrow, from 9am tomorrow morning.
